AFC HORNCHURCH 1 REDBRIDGE 5 Att 21

Redbridge moved up to 2nd place in the Capital league Central Division on Thursday night following a thumping victory at AFC Hornchurch. Redbridge fielded Craig White who was a regular for the 1st team during the latter part of 2009/10 season and again impressed. Hornchurch started strongly and Jon Green hit just wide in the opening minutes. On 22 the excellent Chris Lockwood also hit just wide. First blood went to the Hosts on 23 when Green ran through and scored past Winston. Redbridge dominated following this and almost scored on 27 when Matt Donovan effort was cleared off the line. On 34 Redbridge were back on level terms when Academy player Pele Salmon hit from the edge of the area with a great strike. Redbridge came out for the second half dominated the remainder of the game. On 59 Michael Blaussaint was brought down in the box and Chris Lockwood scored in the bottom corner. Within 3 minutes it was 3-1 when Matt Gillingham picked up the ball just inside the Hornchurch half and struck from 30 yards into the bottom corner of the net. On 62 Redbridge were out of sight when Blaussaint ran through unchallenged to make it 4-1. The home side tried to dominate but were kept out by a resolute defence.

With 10 minutes remaining and excellent Redbridge move resulted in Blaussaint having his header brilliantly saved by Bowditch. Blaussaint was causing problems for the home defence and again brought out a good save by Bowditch from a Rainford cross.

In the final seconds substitute Rainford ran from and crashed home to cap off a very good night for Redbridge.

After the game a delighted manager on the night Mark Holloway said he was delighted with the team work and work rate throughout the 90 minutes. Every player played there part.
