Redbridge travelled to Suffolk for what was the first ever meeting between the two sides, Samuel Nwabuko returned in goal after serving his one match suspension whilst Giovanni Palmer and Wesley Gomes Dos Santos made their first starts for the club.
The early possession was all with the Motormen as they were allowed to pass the ball around the pitch with ease, on the odd occasion the home side did have the ball they were guilty of overplaying and simply gifting the ball back to their opponent.
Two early chances went begging for Redbridge, first the returning Charlie Stimson failed to connect with a Gomes Dos Santos cross whilst from the opposite flank a Palmer cross was headed wide by Tendai Quamina who should have at least tested keeper Josh Pope.
Shortly after Pope did have to be alert as he made an unorthodox save with his feet from Stimson however it came as no surprise when the away side took the lead, a corner was swung in finding Stimson at the near post who got in front of his marker to poke home from close range.
Redbridge continued to look neat and tidy with their passing whilst Mildenhall were barely able to lay a glove on them and came in at half time fortunate just to be the one goal behind as domination had not turned into goals.
As expected, the home side showed a much-improved performance after the break after a lacklustre opening half and went close early on when Ryan Swift fired just over the bar, the same player then showed good feet to get in behind the Redbridge defence however his shot was well saved by the feet of Nwabuko.
They then turned to their bench for inspiration, sub Jake Chambers-Shaw only on the pitch for 10 minutes showed good composure before rifling home into the far corner after Redbridge had only partially cleared failing to close down the play.
The home side were now the ones asking the questions as Swift went on a mazy run leaving two players in his wake only to be denied by a strong challenge preventing him from getting a shot on target.
A cautious approach this half from the visitors saw them fail to create any notable effort and a rare opportunity saw Gomes Dos Santos cross to the far post finding Quamina who saw his headed from close range well saved on the goal line by Pope.
Fellow Mildenhall substitute Ben Nolan then turned the match around as he struck with a smart finish across Nwabuko rifling home, with the resulting time left they were able to run down the clock and secure victory inflicting a first defeat on temporary Redbridge managers Joey May and Ricky Eaton.
